PROF CARLOS GARRIDO CASTELLANO
Carlos Garrido Castellano is an Associate Professor in University College Cork (UCC), Cork, Ireland, where he coordinates a BA programme on Portuguese studies. He is Principal Investigator of the IRC Laureate Consolidator Project “Assessing the Contemporary Art Novel in Spanish and Portuguese: Cultural Labour, Personal Identification and the Materialisation of Alternative Art Worlds (ARTFICTIONS)” (2023-2027).
Castellano is an author of Beyond Representation in Contemporary Caribbean Art: Space, Politics, and the Public Sphere (2019); Art Activism for an Anticolonial Future (2021); Literary Fictions of the Contemporary Art System (2023); and Chorus: Sonic Politics of the Carnivalesque in Tragic Times (forthcoming, Liverpool University Press). He has edited multiple books and special issues including Decentring the Genealogies of Art Activism (2020); Curating and the Legacies of Colonialism in Contemporary Iberia (2022); The Afterlives of Anticolonial Aesthetics (2022); Cultural Labour and Contemporary World Literatures in Portuguese (2024); and Reconceptualising Caribbean Modernisms (forthcoming, Brill).
