Radical Digitalities

Heinrich Nieuman’s solo exhibition “Xenopolis” at the Faculty of Art Design and Architecture (FADA) Gallery. This landmark tandem exhibition invites audiences to experience the city through two distinct artistic perspectives, exploring themes of identity, displacement, and memory in a compelling visual dialogue.

‘Xenopolis’ is a large digital installation, opening at 11am on the 7th of June 2026 at the FADA Gallery in Johannesburg.
Thulile Gamedze describes it as follows: “As nature merges with machine, both gradually become strangers to their own origins, and move forward into a hybrid urban species. Unfamiliar tongues, digital junk, purrs of electrical noise, and creatures wild and tame, are Nieuman’s ‘Xenopolis’: a space of technological chaos, defined by both its hyperconnectivity, and ultimate disconnectedness.”
